Saturday Song: Surrender by Cheap Trick

Happy Saturday!

Can you believe it’s already September 10th? It’s crazy.

In honour of the kids in Canada heading back to school, I’m sharing one of my favourite teen anthems with you! I’ve played this song a lot for my teen groups, and they all love it.

Surrender by Cheap Trick

So this song was released in 1978, and is basically about how your parents are cooler than you give them credit for. Maybe a strange theme for a song, but it works so well, and makes for such a great song. Plus, most teenagers think that their parents are pretty uncool and not so hip, so this is a fun way to get kids talking about their relationship and perceptions of their parents, if that’s something you like to do.

The guitar in this one is pretty fun, as well. And it’s seriously a blast to sing while driving to work or school or wherever you’re going. It’ll definitely put you in a good mood for the day ahead.

Take a listen and let me know what you think!
